Responding to Comments...

IKG said...

I always like reading your comments, Rachel. It was so sad that Rex died. I agree that Paul or Zac should have died on DH. When does the new season start?

Thank you, IKG, for commenting. It was very sad when Rex died, but it will be really interesting to see the fallout with Bree and the kids. They've definitely got some good material to work with. I hope that Steven Culp has something else lined up, because it must have sucked when they told him he wasn't making it to season 2.

I'm not entirely sure that Zack and Paul need to die. They could just leave town. Paul definitely needs to leave. He's pretty much beyond redemption and there isn't much else they can do with him. Now I'm not sure about Zack. If he is in fact Mike's son, then maybe he can stay with Mike and work on like, figuring out his life next season, which could be kind of interesting. They could get Julie involved and give her something to do other than listen to Susan's whining.

I don't think that ABC has announced the fall schedule yet, but I am guessing that the new season will begin end of September. The season 1 dvds are going to be released on September 20th, so I would think that new episodes would begin to air shortly afterwards. Assuming that they keep the Sunday at 9 time slot, I am going to predict that the premiere will be on either Sept 25 or Oct 2.

THE FINALE!

DH season finale! Lets go!

9:02: Dierdre is Zack's mom?!!! I thought that she was the PI that was sent to find Zack as a baby. Hmm.
9:03: She fucking sold her baby? SOLD THE BABY?
9:05: Ah, of course. Not a PI, just a mom who wanted her kid back... much like Jenna.
9:06: I wonder if Rex is going to die. I hope that Bree finds out how skeevy George is.
9:08: Holy shit, Zack is a fucking psycho. Maybe Felicia will be the one to die.
9:09: Okay, Alfre Woodard is the new woman with a secret. Nice set up for season 2.
9:11: Oh Susan is so annoying.

recap: I wonder if the premise of the show is that they are going to have a big mystery/ underlying theme of each season. This season was the whole Mary Alice mystery, and I bet next season, they focus on Alfre Woodard's character's story... I'm going to work on figuring out her name in a sec. Ah, its Betty Applewhite. What a wretched name. Oh well. Lets see what else they do in this episode. There are tons of loose ends to wrap up!

9:17: Is Tom playing with other people's kids?! Oh yeah, I forgot he quit. He could at least play with his own kids.
9:20: I wonder when Andrew is going to get his big revenge. I forgot to check the credits to see if he was in this episode.
9:22: Ew, fucking weird! Why is Zack in Mike's hosue? Was he lurking there specifically to find Susan?

recap: Okay, going back to last week, when George snuck into Bree and Rex' bedroom and found the bondage stuff, how did he know that it was Rex' fetish and not Bree's? Zack is fucking crazy. I can't see him and Paul making it until next season. They've gone round the bend, if you will. They've reached that point in a show where the character is just beyond redemption and can no longer exist in society, so they must leave the show. There are the characters who we love to hate (like Edie and Carlos), but then there are the characters who we jsut hate.

9:28: Oh, so he wasn't waiting for Susan in some weird Julie-related revenge thing. He was just waiting for Mike. Poor Edie. So clueless, yet such a bitch.
9:29: Gabby is so not convincing. Ooh, enter John!

recap: You know that John totally loved that. He hated sneaking around. I wonder if this will increase Carlos' sentence. Speaking of the infamous Carlos jail sentence, isn't it about fucking time he went to jail already? I mean, he plead guilty, he should be in jail, not free to break his parole and beat up Andrew's boyfriend.

9:35: Ohh, where are they? The desert? Where the fuck is Wisteria Lane in Fairview anyway? My guess is somewhere in California.
9:36: Oh, George is so giving Rex potassium pills. Shouldn't they be giving him medication from the hospital pharmacy, so shouldn't he be getting better?
9:38: Is Lynette going back to work?! Isn't that what she wanted? Can't she go back to work with that woman who she had lunch with last week?

recap: Okay, so the whole season, the point of Lynette's character is that she hates being a stay-at-home mom and misses her life of being a real person and having daily interactions with adults. She should totally take this opportunity, at least for enough time for Doug to crash and burn staying home with the kids everyday. It looks like we're going to end the season with Rex and Bree the same way we started it - with Rex leaving Bree and demanding a divorce and accusing her of trying to kill him. I hope they at least figure out that it was George, although with only 17 minutes left, that seems doubtful. I can tell already, its going to be a long summer...

9:44: Oh, she's so a mom. She's trying to feed the kid who's holding her hostage. Ooh, way to bring in the mom guilt.
9:45: I wonder if that is the same gun that Mary Alice used to shoot herself.
9:46: Okay, that is like, the worst couching ever. "Bree, Rex died" I mean, he oculd have softened the blow a bit. Bree's politeness cracks me up. How is she going to tell the kids? This isn't going to help Andrew at all.

recap: Aw, so it is Rex. :( That was a great scene, by the way. I loved the shot with the camera focusing on the phone, where you could see Bree polishing the silver in the background, out of focus. The shot of her at the table, looking at Rex' empty chair and realizing he's never going to sit in it again was great, too. I hope that they are able to figure out it was George who was poisoning Rex. If this was a daytime soap, they would arrest Bree for killing him. Lets hope that they don't stoop to that.

9:53: Paul knows that Mike has a good reason to want to kill him.
9:55: Why did I think that they had killed a PI? Hmm? I thought maybe Paul had said she was a PI?
9:59: Oh my lord, Mike is Zack's father. How could I have missed that? That makes so much sense!

recap: That wasn't that big of a cliffhanger. I've definitely had to deal with worse. I mean, come on, lets not forget, "Its not what it seems... its worse!" I doubt Zack will kill Mike. This was a good wrap up episode to the Mary Alice mystery, but has definitely left a lot open in terms of storylines for next season. I hoep that the writers haven't gotten over their heads and set up too many storylines that they don't have time to complete. That happens sometimes on AMC. They start to develop a story, but then it doesn't go anywhere because they dont' have time or whatever to finish it. New neighbor is kind of interesting and mysterious. Its about time they got token black family. They needed some ethnic diversity. Man, it is like, 4 more months until the next new episode. This is why I stopped watching new TV. I'm too impatient. I can't really think of anything else to say, actually? Comments?

The Fonz.... Aaaaaay!

Last night I went to see Doubt with my grandparents. It kind of came up last minute, but I wasn't going to say no. By going, though, I missed watching the Daytime Emmy's (which were being aired live) and had to tape them. No worries, though. That's what VCRs are for... although TiVo would be better.

Okay, so lets talk about Doubt first. Nominated for a shitload of Tony's. I wasn't really a fan of the first half, but by the end it was all wrapped up nicely and I had warmed up to it quite a bit. While we were standing outside the theater before it started, I saw Henry Winkler walking inside. This is confirmed by my grandmother, who was apparently standing near him on the will-call line. Awesome, token celebrity sighting of the night, which probably would have been slighly more exciting if he hadn't been wearing this odd lavender shirt with a light green pullover sweater. I know that he stayed for the whole show because afterwards, we ended up getting pushed together in the crowd on the way out. So that was how Henry Winkler spent his Friday evening.

This morning, I woke up and immediately rewound the Emmy's, because I know that if I wait too long, the stupid yentas on the AMC list will start chattering about it and the small amount of suspense will be lost. Blah, blah, all is going well, AMC didn't win a bunch of awards I would have liked to have seen them win, blah, blah. Then they get to outstanding performer in an animated series. There are a bunch of people nominated, including Henry Winkler. And who should win, but Henry Winkler. Of course, they had to accept his award on his behalf, because he wasn't there. And where was he? On location, filming his next movie? At an important family event? No. He was about three blocks across town, sitting in a theater watching Doubt. Way to really show the world that you are just way too cool for the Daytime Emmy's.

In contrast, Stockard Channing won an award for something... I think it may have been Outstanding Performer in a Children's Special. I'm not really sure, I'll check later. Anyway, she is like, way up there in the world above Henry Winkler, but she still managed to dedicate two hours of her life to being at the Daytime Emmy's. Not only that, she was appropriately grateful and flattered. Abbey Bartlet is way classier than Arthur Fonzarelli.

Incidentally, as she was walking up to the stage, they had the little voiceover talking about her previous nominations. It went something like this: "This is Stockard's first Daytime Emmy nomination and first win. She has won Primetime Emmys for her work on the West Wing and the Matthew Shepard Story. She is also an Oscar nominee and Tony Winner" Yeah, like anyone else had a chance.

Mad props to Eden Reigel for finally winning the Emmy! Its about fucking time! So deserved!

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

FUCKING AWESOME!

Okay, I will admit, I was a bit hesitant going into it. Phantom Menace was a big disappointment, and Attack of the Clones was just wretched, but Sith kicked hardcore ass. Maybe it was just because the story got more interesting, and you could see how it linked to the original trilogy, but whatever it was, it fucking worked. I'm not going to say too much, because not everyone is ridiculous like me and insists upon seeing it on the first day, but seriously, it was great. Some amazing sequences and thankfully, very little Jar Jar Binks.

I love opening day audiences like that. Usually when you go to the movies, you end up with obnoxious assholes who talk and giggle and let their cell phones ring and generally make the movie process unbearable. Not so at opening day Star Wars showings. Everyone in the theater was deathly silent, except during key moments when applause was clearly necessary. Even then, the cheering abruptly cut off as soon as a character started talking or something important happened. A totally great crowd.

Oh, I know that I missed the DH commentary last Sunday. Sorry about that. I will try my best to make up for it on Sunday, with the finale.

3 New Episodes...

Only two more episodes until the season finale. Lets watch!

9:01: wedding ring #1 is cute!, as is #3. i wonder which of those guys is Susan's father.
9:02: Ew, you can't regift a wedding ring like that! Its one thing if its your dead mother's. It can't be your dead wife's.
9:05: I cannot believe that Carlos is using his dead mother as a scapegoat! He's so shady!
9:07: Of course its Annabelle at the door! That scene would have been better if Lynette had babyfood spitup on her shirt.
9:09: Susan would be ridiculous to actually tak her mother's dating advice. Then again, Susan is quite ridiculous.
9:10: Bree's ring is fucking huge.

recap: I'm loving all the focus on the rings. So pretty and sparkly! I can't believe that Bree was really naive enough to think that she could actually just be friends with George. I mean, she knows that he loves her, and she knows that people talk (remember that scene at the country club after it came out that Rex was one of Maisy's clients?!). I wonder what Edie will blackmail her for.

9:15: Tom is so having an affair. He feels guilty, which is why he's not having sex with Lynette Plus, he's kind of being an insenstive dick.
9:18: Is Paul still paying this dude? Why is he so invested in helping Paul out? What does he care? He's just generic PI.

recap: So did Gabby just say that even if its John's baby, he doesn't have to be a part of its life? I mean, obviously, it would be easier for all if they just accepted that it was Carlos' baby and let that be the end of it, but I can't see John as the type to not take responsibility for his kid. I wonder if Gabby is going to get a paternity test, or just wait for the kid to be born and have some sort of rare disease that requires a blood or DNA test.

9:24: Susan's immaturity is so not endearing. I continue to feel very sorry for Julie. And felon Mike is shady looking! That was so Kendra in the picture, wasn't it? That chick who came to stay with him back in the beginning of the season?
9:26: Ooh, Deirdre wasn't as pristine as we all thought! Drugs and hate!
9:27: Yeah, right, a recipe. I seriously doubt that Edie has ever cooked anything in her life... except for trouble! HEHEHEHE!
9:28: Yeah, Bree is a big Republican.
9:30: Is Paul drugging his son?!

recap: Wow, Edie really figured it out! I never really thought of Edie as one to look at relationships in a nonsexual way. I guarantee that Edie will worm her way into being friends with the group by next season. Oh yeah, and let me restate that Paul is way too shady to exist. I actually kind of doubt that he and Zack will make it to the next season. I feel like they've almost gone round the bend in terms of whether their characters are at all redeemable.

9:36: This is an awful long conversation to be having while Tom's carpool is waiting outside. Visiting business exec must think they are cracked out.
9:38: Oh, there is John, ready to do the right thing! And once again, I am forced to ask, why the fuck isn't Carlos in jail yet?!
9:39: That better have been a hand under the washcloth floating above the water.

recap: It would have made much more sense for Gabby to take off her shoes before running up and down the stairs. Those fuckers were loud! I seriously believe that Tom is sleeping with someone. Maybe not Annabelle, but there is/was someone else, and he feels like a guilty motherfucker for it.

9:45: Paul is drugging Zack! Holy shit!
9:46: Oh my lord, that is fucking scary! Mad props to Doug Savant for wearing those on national TV! Does anyone else think that its kind of creepy that they have sex in the same room that their baby is sleeping in?
9:48: Is Paul going to try to kill Felicia, too?! She's quite good at the blackmail thing.
9:49: BRAINSTORM! Is it possible that Felicia is Zach's birth mother?

recap: I can't believe Paul just agreed to leave without Zach. That seems strangely unlike him. He seems way too controlling to put up with being blackmailed by a woman like Felicia. Seriously, I can totally seeing him skulking back into her house in the middle of the night to kill her and take Zach and be done with it all. And seriously, I so wouldnt' be surprised if it somehow came out that Felicia was Zach's birth mother. Maybe she was just lying in that flashback last week about Zach's birth mother being a mentally handicapped patient. Maybe it was really her!

end of show: Susan is ridiculous. What a tool. I'm a litle confused about teh whole Kendra/Mike/ Deirdre relationship. Bree is so the type to start knitting a baby garment the day the pregnancy is announced. I can't believe that Rex is being such a dick. He should so realize what he's doing to Bree, especially because he was the one who kind of wanted to work things out. Okay, lets talk about the Deirdre time line. We know from the chest that Deirdre has been dead for about 10 years. That means that the stuff with her and Mike must have happened way before then. I mean, From what Kendra said, she was pretty hard core into drugs. She had to have time to clean herself up adn become a PI before taking on the missing baby case and getting herself killed. I don't remember exactly, but didn't they say Mike was in jail about 7 years ago? Wouldn't that not fit in on the timeline very well? Also, when are we going to see Andrew get his revenge?! Oh, lets see what happens next week...

Apathy

If there had to be a theme to my life right now, it would most likely be apathy. I dont' think i've ever cared less about school than I do right now. I have papers and stuff to do, but not only do I have no desire to do it, I have no motivation. I'm not even stressed about it, which is a first for me. I've definitely turned in crap this semester, and dont' care that its crap. Blah. I can't decide if I should stay here and like, pretend to do work, and just sit and do nothing, or if I should go out and at least be outside when I do nothing. I'll probably stay here, because doing nothing is easier than doing something.

On a fun note, I went to Nightline certification last night. So much fun to see everyone! On a sad note, the trainee kind of sucked a lot. It was actually excrutiating to listen to her. Oh well. The streak of not certifying anyone continues...

3 More Episodes to the Season Finale...

Only four new episodes left of the season! So it begins:

9:01: Susan is so definitely the mom who would drop the baby.
9:03: aw, I kind of feel bad for Zach. His life kind of sucks a lot, and Susan's not really helping.
9:05: George is creepy! I'm liking the flower imagery, though.
9:07: On a TV show, vomiting always equals pregnancy. That, and passing out.
9:08: Tom is kind of an elevator slut.
9:10: Note to self: don't trust Edie with state secrets. She clearly can't crack under the intense pressure... of someone asking her nicely.

First segment: Eh, not that exciting. I wonder when Lynette is going to figure out that Tom and Annabelle are having/ had an affair. Tom is sort of shady. I don't really like it. It would be kind of fun to see Lynette totally flip out on him, I suppose. I dont' know. Was very much a fan of the orchid= Bree symbolism in the scene with Rex and George. I can't remember if I noticed if Andrew will be in this episode. That could add a fun spin to things later.

9:16: Bree is oblivious. You know that she likes that George likes her, though.
9:17: Ooh, bad answer, Rex. Always say yes!
9:18: I like Bree's shirt! Its kind of an odd match for her hair color, though. I can't believe that Bree is believing that stupid lie about Ginger the stock girl. I totally hope that this plan backfires on George
9:20: Tom so had a thing with this chick. Would love to see Lynette actually follow through with stalking his office.
9:22: Ah, Julie lied to Susan! Felicia is like, teh evilist woman ever. Totally feel bad for Zach. His life totally sucks. I almost miss him and Bree being friends.
9:23: Whoa, things have been revealed! So Zach's real mom was a drug addict!

Second segment: Okay, I take back the Felicia is evil comment. She's not all that bad, I suppose. She's just creepy. I'm glad that they're finally letting us know what the whole story is, and not dragging it out forever (the writers at AMC should take a hint). I guess that answers the question as to how Mrs. Huber knew about the kidnapping. Now its just a matter of everyone else figuring it out. Oh, and Gabby is hysterical.

9:29: Let the Lynette stalking begin! Oh, Annabelle wants to be friends. Totally love that Lynette broke out the cleavage for the office visit. Where the hell are her kids?
9:30: I'm kind of surprised that Gabby talks to a priest. Bizarre. I could see Carlos, but not her.
9:31: Lynette + Edie will be amazing.
9:33: Ew, Paul did so not say that Julie was too good for Zach. Paul and Bree are like, totally in the same class of cracked out parenting. Zach is a little shadily obsessed, which is pretty unattractive.

recap: The characters on this show are so confident in themselves! I love it! Gabby revels in her selfishness! Edie loves being a maneater. "I've never been threatened by another woman" I feel like Edie and Gabby could be an interesting little pair of troublemakers, if they opportunity ever arose. I could totally see them like, teaming up together to sneak their way into some sort of restricted building through seduction, which happens more often then one would expect. Oh, and is anyone else sort of interested in that Fallen Idol special?

9:38: Using the kids! Most excellent! They need to have some sort of purpose.
9:40: That cup seems like its really way too close to the edge of the table... I bet Susan knocks it over.
9:41: Is Annabelle going to steal Tom's job?
9:42: Maybe Tom isn't cheating. Hard to say.

recap: Eh, dont' really have much to say. I still want to know what Lynette started doing with the kids. They never showed her hiring a new nanny, but she seems to have a lot more time on her hands. Oh well.

9:47: Gabby's party is UBER cute! I can't believe she's actually grilling food herself. Is Gabby going to boot all over the grill?
9:49: Oh, I guess she makes it to teh bathroom. I guess Julie was serious. Poor Zach.
9:50: Carlos is going down!

recap:
That was great! Love the useage of the pool. Totally reminiscent of some classic Melrose moments. Gabby so shouldn't have told Carlos she was pregnant, though. She could have easily had an abortion, and no one would have known, and all would have been good. Now that Carlos knows, she's kind of stuck. Oh, Gabby, your rage will be your downfall. That, and your inability to keep your hands off the gardener.

end of episode: when did Gabby tell Susan about the affair with John? I don't remember Gabby telling any of the girls about it - oh wait, was it at the fashion show, when John's parents thought it was Susan? Hmm, don't remember. Holy shit, Susan's mom burned down the house. Hahahaha! Edie must be loving it! Was it Miss Scarlet or Paul? George is still the creepiest person ever. Love Bree's pearl by the yard necklace. Is Susan's PI going to be the same guy that Paul hired? Of course it is! And it totally wasn't Paul, it was Zach! Ew, he's such a creepy stalker. Do you ever wonder where creepy stalkers get all their shrine pictures from? There were a couple of pictures on his wall there that looked like he totally just stole them from Susan's house, which I suppose is totally possible, given that he is a stalker. Oh, the fun that is living on Wisteria Lane.
